The first step with traditional braces is getting a mold of your teeth so the orthodontist can have a starting point and come up with a targeted treatment plan. The mold used can be messy and uncomfortable for patients with bad gag reflexes. They are also not as accurate because they only let the orthodontist see the present placement and alignment of the patient’s teeth.

After a plan has been made, the braces are applied. Every month the patient must come in to have the wires tightened and adjusted to ensure progressive, correct movement of teeth toward the final target goal of the treatment.
